Just a suggestion....

The RED DSMC2 side handle has significantly less buttons than it's DSMC1 predecessor. While much of that can be overcome, and most shooters probably don't rely on the side handle as much as I do, I would like to ask for the following in the form of a firmware upgrade.

The front roller wheel which is dedicated for pulling focus on auto-focus EF lenses cannot be reassigned to any other function. I assume this is because it has positive stops at both the left and right ends of it's "scrollability".

I get that this can be useful, but on avg your RED shooter isn't going to be using an autofocus EF lens. If they are using EF glass, it's likely cine-modded or on manual focus anyways. Wouldn't it be sweet if that little wheel could be custom assigned to any other function? Personally I would use it to roll shutter speeds / angle up and down. I know that would only work for some, but either way, a scroll left and scroll right function would be pretty bad ass, and I doubt it would take much to work that into a new firmware version for the handle itself. Even with the limitations of a positive stop on either end for that little wheel, it sits unused in most cases and it could fill the gap on the new handle which desperately needs more customizable buttons.

Again, just a SMALL suggestion that would make a BIG difference to shooters like myself.

Keep killin' it and thanks for listening.
Cheers,

Nick
