  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Suddenly no Raven users?

Is there anyone on this forum that still uses the Raven?
Interesting how dead the Raven forum is compared to other old cameras.
 
Well I can't speak for everyone but I'm definitely using my Raven and very happy with it. We are currently shooting a feature with it. I waited almost a year to receive my raven and while there are plenty other great options out there I love mine.

Nice production shots and rigs. Still, it is very quiet here all of a sudden. Good to know it’s just a coincidence that Raven users on this forum have no need to post.
 
Since the cameras use similar firmware, I think most forum posts apply across the spectrum of RED cameras.
I usually just click "New Posts" to see what's up. I only dig through individual forums if I'm doing research on a topic.
So I wouldn't really judge a camera's use based on its forum activity. I use Epic Dragon, but I usually don't go checking the forum.
 
Historically the Raven thread is a little "slow", but I think that has more to do with the commonality between it and the other cameras in the lineup, so there's a lot of pertinent Raven info in the other threads as well.

Still have a Raven. Still love it.

I do, but nothing to report or share that I can atm.
Maybe later this year I can share some personal project stuff I am planning on shooting soon.

I still can't believe the price I paid to own a RED camera.
I wonder if there will ever be a RED camera sold at the price point of the RAVEN ever again?

I would love to watch/support it if I can! I hope to get to make one myself one day.
 
I use the raven 120 fps 4.5k ain't nothing to sneeze at.
 
Got my Raven last year, using it for all my work really. Action Sports and Wildlife. Outside of the higher end REDs there isn't much that can touch this camera for the price point. I will keep shooting on it till I move up.
 
Still here, still love it. Just sent mine in for some minor repairs finally. I'd still upgrade to an S-W if the option was made available, but I love Raven and what it has allowed me to do as a documentary filmmaker and creative.
 
I'm still pretty happy with my Raven. I just recently compiled my new reel, and I was reminded how lovely the image is from this camera. I've put on more than 400 hours on it, shot in literally every state with it now, and it's been through all kinds of terrain from air, land and sea. The day I end up upgrading I'll be a bit sad as it's been through so many adventures with me. With that said, I would love to step up to a Helium or Gemini, but in the meantime, she's no slouch. The Raven has been an incredible investment for the steal of a price it sold for.
 
I still use my Raven, Just shoot an ESPN TVC in Singapore with it, and planning to shoot my 1st feature with it in the coming weeks, LOVE IT :)
 
Hi I am guilty of not being on the forum.
I still love and use my Raven.
I find it an easy camera to use so I suppose I don't look on Reduser so much lately as I am getting good results. That doesn't mean that I can't keep learning and improving.
I find it a reliable camera that gives consistent results.
I use it for TVC's, corporate, and short films.

Just bought a brand new Raven, probably one of the last new ones in the market! Quick practical question: I see that IPP2 is not an option in camera. To take advantage of IPP2 workflow in post, which color space/gamma should I be using when recording? Should I use REDWideGamutRGB and Log3G10 routinely? Or it does not matter?

Doesn’t matter how you shoot. Just switch to IPP2 in post.
