Subtitling software / options for feature..

Does anyone here have any recommendations for inexpensive subtitling software? I have a feature I recently finished, its in English and am looking for a software that would let me do English subtitles.

Its for hearing impaired people and sometimes foreign folks like to turn them on...

It would be great to find out if a software would do subtitling just like you read close captioned items on the news when audio is muted.

Once I get the film subtitled, I will figure out how to integrate it with the DVD / Blu-Ray menus..

You can do it right in DVD studio pro if that is what you are using to author your DVD menus. Not sure about other DVD authoring software, but I imagine it would be the same.

Is it relatively simple to do in DVD Studio Pro? Sounds pretty time intensive, but I will give it a shot. I was hoping to find a solution like close captioning where it does the subtitling itself and you just correct for any errors. Sure would save a lot of time...

I think you're much better off just hiring a captioning company and let them do it. Last time I looked into it, if you furnish them with a complete transcription of all dialogue (which saves a huge expense), the total cost was under $1000 for a 90-minute movie, in one language.

I agree with you Marc to go with a company and save the hassle. I will give it a shot. If it seems difficult and a waste of time, I will just hire someone. I don't necessarily have to have subtitles as the film is in English. I have seem a lot of films in English with no subtitles..
