  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sub-Renting - W-9/1099-MISC?

If they paid you more than $600 in a calendar year, then yes...they'd need to issue you a 1099, typically - especially if they are a business.

If your providing a service to them as a individual and for over $600 then yes they are supposed to 1099 you. If your renting to them as a company and giving them a invoice then they should not 1099 you. The 1099 nonsense is way over used in this industry because a lot of accounts tell their clients to 1099 every transaction to be safe. However the liability of losing someone's W9 info is up to $250k and a lot of companies don't take that risk into consideration, just having someones personal info without a privacy policy and insurance to cover you incase you lose that info can be potentially catastrophic for a small business. On the other hand if you fail to 1099 someone that you are supposed to the penalty can be up to $50.
