Hi,

figured someone here would know how to do this or is already doing it.

I want to take a "LIVE" downconverted ntsc SD signal or hd signal from a red or any other camera compress it and stream it to an iphone or ipod touch. Is there something (an app or streaming .h264 box) that can do this. I know they do it for sports games but would think this would be ideal for set. Anyone?

thanks boys and girls.

Ok, I looked into it and yes this would work for something thats already recorded to a hard drive. I'm interested in a LIVE feed on an iphone. Not files that have been recorded.

thanks

iPhone SDK streaming package (saw it, haven't touched it) then just go about it the same way one would stream to a net site. Similar to how they stream live events off of a camera to the box then packaged out, just skip the box stage....pretty sure that's how they are done, we use to do them for our college, 4 cameras into a feed box then out to a recorder, could've live streamed it but that would've defeated the purpose of buying a ticket in a way, also expense. You'll bottle neck though depending on the bandwidth on location and where iPhone Wi-Fi is connected to (doubt you'd like to do it over 3G...)

Ok it looks great but it only allows one person on at a time. A iphone or a laptop. I would have to buy a few so I could stream it to more than one device. Almost there......

The new OS supports HTTP Streaming / Chunking for the video stream. I have worked with Euan McLeod with live sports on the iPhone.

To be clear, our solution was 3 or more live streams to thousands of mobile devices (iPhones, BlackB's, etc). You may not need to scale that high.

I am no longer in the live delivery market, but Euan McLeod is. He may be able to steer you in the right direction.

For an immediate use there are apps like Jaedu that will allow you to view and manipulate the desktop of a Mac or Windows machine via wifi network.. you can have the video on the host computer, including waveform, etc. or even multiple feeds.. simply zoom in on the desktop to what you want to watch? Might not be very good frame rate.

i have a tut coming on digitalcinemalessons.com that shows how to setup premiere for slingbox for remote editing sessions. you could just as well sling from RED if you have WIFI on set

Sling box is great, but from what I can gather you would need multiple sling boxes to get it to more than one device. right? Sling boxes site says one device at a time , a laptop iphone or ipod touch. I want everyone on set to be able to see the camera feed on their iphone or laptop.

Well couldn't you get a HDMI one output two output and multiple that by X amount of slingbox's? then you have all the slingbox's you need! but obviously quite costly...

Must be some form of a work around to get slingbox to more then one device...
