I've used these shoulder pads on a few shows now and I have to say, for quick hand held shots in studio configuration it's the best, fast solution.

The Mantis is my choice for all day handheld in a light weight config. but I rarely have the time to properly set it up like that. This pad lets me work from the shoulder for short bursts, here's the rub...

They were custom made for the camera houses and as far as I can tell not available for sale elsewhere. I've contacted the Co. that had them made but I need to order 10-20 to make it worth their while. I think the price would be about $80 each, and let me tell you, it's well worth it.

Anyway if you have an extra pad you'd like to sell or if you'd like to go in on a larger order, PM me...

Put me down for two please... This will go great with the ET LW rod set up and some Spyder Grips.

BTW Evin, any chance for a Spyder Grip group buy? Compared to others... I really like the Spyder Grips.

Thanks Evin, much appreciated.

Andrew

not to downplay this (because it looks worthwhile), but I find the Filmtools one to be quite decent, and I once used it for about 4 hours straight and it did what I needed it too

To each his own, I've had the Filmtools one for almost a year and have used it twice, both times it bugged the shit out of me. This one is top notch. It's also the pad Keslow provided for ER and all the Ops used it on that show.

The Camera Comfort Cushion is a product available from Abel as well as Filmtools. You might not realize it, but it has a zipper to open up the cusion and remove layers of padding to adjust it to your liking.

I did realize that Mitch, even to the point of pulling out the included foam and replacing it with a gel palm cushion to try to get it lower and more adaptive, but no luck.

The cushion I'm trying to have made is very wide and covers the entire shoulder from your collar bone to your back. That's really important because when going hand held the Red Arri base has a tendency to cut in right where your collar meets your shoulder. This pad cushions that area perfectly and is covered in a textured rubber that grips the bottom and keeps it from slipping.

Can you get rid of the words "shoulder pad" from the thread subject line?
