I just put in a support ticket but wanted to see if others were getting this.

Shot 20 clips today. On the final 5, a strange single line appears in the footage.

Didn't notice it in the EVF or LCD, but it's there on the footage. Tried it in Red CineX and Red Alert, same thing, only on those last clips.

Build 20.1.3.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm shooting again early in the morning. I will first see if it's still there, then black shade, reinstall firmware etc.

Had the same issue on two shots at the end of a shootingday. a new black calibration solved the problem so far..... but interesting, it came out of a sudden, never seen before....

Thanks for the reply Rainer! Same with me, came on suddenly and I have never seen it before.

I will check it in the morning, then black shade.

Cheers,

Jim

I had this when my camera first arrived back in March 08 and had to send it back to Red for fixing. No amount of black calibrating could shift it. I have a vague memory of it being a loose connection inside, but i could be wrong.

Had the exact same issue a few months ago - black shading calibration fixed it. We were having this problem on Build 17.

This is a scary one. Doesn't show on LCD or EVF, and it seems very hard to fix in post short of creating an average from the adjacent lines somehow. Is there a fix?

Do you guys doing a black shading every morning of a shoot ? Ive seen the black line problem on other Red locatator and i'm sure its because they do not tell their customers to do a black shading every morning before starting the day.

I've received about 6 hours of footage shot in South Africa, and six shots out of about 750 shots had this line in the middle. They happened at once meaning the affected shots were in a row. Not sure how it happened and how it disapeared since I wasn't on set. Just told the production they might need to touch it up by CG if they choose to use those takes.

Yes every morning black shading.... then few seconds of test and verifiying if the picture is ok... then I'm sure the cam was in the morning ok....

The second strange thing was that it was not visible in Redalert! I saw it only in Rocketcine and in the rushes after transcoding.....
I made then a 4k tiff out of redalert and there it was also visible....

best,
rainer
