Anybody ever seen a couple of frames go bright green? It's happened twice now. Right at the beginning of a take, like at frame #4 or so, suddenly two or three frames will come out bright green or devoid of detail except for a mainly green wash. I've seen it on Build 16 and Build 17 on this camera. Recorded to CF card in 2K at 48fps.

This is frame 4 (correct):

and

This is frame 5:

I think it may be a hardware problem rather than software-based. I don't know about RED, but I've seen it something very similar happening with other cameras (albeit all 3-sensor based - but the glitch was slightly different too: the frames were shifting to magenta or green) - it could be a problem with the sensor's wirings.
While I am not a RED owner\user\expert, I suggest you should check it out.

Good luck

I've had this problem as well. I guess it really doesn't bother me because it always happens at the very beginning of a clip. Should I be worried that it might get worse?

If it is hardware-related, it can easily got worse - it could start popping out randomly in the middle of takes and lasting as long as it wants. Again, my friendly advise is to get the camera checked by an authorized technician. We had to do it when it happened to us (but we weren't working with a RED).

ive got exactly the same error on a bbc doc film im working on.
(shot 4k) any takes (ie intvs) over 15 mins had green flashes lasting a few frames - maybe once sometimes twice in a 20 min intv.
(and we have about 20 intvs all with long takes)
this is using the red cameras proxies in fcp.
i also had a drop frame in long takes causing crashes and hang ups and shash type audio (white) noise once per long take (lasting a second or 4).
we could see some errors on the quicktimes when played straight from the drives
so we checked the red master file and could find no such problems.
so it seems to be a problem in the way the red camera encodes
the long quicktime files .. i thought, maybe?.
then .....
to get round it i re made the quicktimes again and this cured the 'shash' audio and the drop frames. i thought it got rid of the green flashes but... it just changed the location of the green frames (although they are much much fewer).. they became less frequent but as i continue i am finding a few still there in different parts of the take.
so i think its either - the camera has a problem creating longer quicktime files in the short time after shooting. or there is a compatability problem between red and quicktime or quicktimes made from the red used in fcp.
i did a few pro res tests and didnt notice the same error - but didnt look at much - as funnily enough im trying to cut a film and hey, the director, producers and channel are insisting it has to be finished before broadcast.
any takes under a minute seem fine, no problems on any other rushes except for the long intv takes.
the dp had the camera checked by red and am also certain it is not a edit hardware, computer, error.

Could be a bad CF module. I had a bad CF module and had some frames that looked like that, others that looked like checkerboard patterns, others that looked like lava lamp blobs, etc... Several varieties of weirdness. Always just one or two frames at a time, although it was sometimes dozens in total, randomly throughout a clip. Got a new CF module, no problems since. Knock wood.
