Wondering if anyone else has ever seen this.... Recorded everything fine, transfered to the main harddrive just fine, but when it went to the back up drive we got the strange artifacts

the footage is safe on one drive and i am currently backing it up to another, so everything is ok, just wondering if this has every happened to anyone else?

I've seen artifacts like this happen while I was filming but never just from transferring footage. Are you sure didn't happen on original footage?
That's exactly what I was thinking too, but I checked the redmag as well as our primary hard drive that we initially transfered to and everything showed up just fine. fortunately it happened when transferring to the backup not the primary.

I have had the same issue (last week and about a year ago) both were corrupted during the transfer process.

The way I got around the corrupt frames happening was to change computers for transferring the footage. The Computer that caused the issue was a MacBook Pro. I have not been able to work out further where the corruption has come from. I used the same red station SSD reader on the new computer (iMac) when re transferring the footage and all went with out any issues.

During the original transfer (which had corrupt frames) I used both R3D Data manager and then Double Data checksum software which did not pick up any issues. The second transfer on the iMac was done using "finder" and had no issues at all.

To see these corrupt frames you have to watch the transfered footage in real time playback. So corrupt frames are over the complete frame, while others can be just a tiny part of the frame. Also them seem to appear at random intervals.
