Straight Lemo Red Cables Suck..

Dear Red,

Why do you make the straight LEMO connector cable for your LCD screens? This cable is crap.. and poorly thought out. Over the months, it has slowly stopped working correctly because of the tension due to it being straight. The right angle connectors are great because they don't run the risk of being bent like the straight ones do. I've had my EVF cable for a few months less than the LCD cable and it functions perfectly. I feel like having these straight cables is a total design flaw and I was deeply disappointed when RED offered no option to fix this problem, instead advising me to buy another cable. $180 is a lot of money for a cable that I already paid for... It's not like the thing is cut in half, I just have a faulty connector.. Why is this so hard to fix? I think Red should do away with these connectors or offer some kind of option to have it fixed or modified into a right angle connector at a reasonable price... Having to spend $180 pisses me the hell off..

I just got my RED ONE last week, the 2 foot LCD cable never worked, right out of the box, I've been using the HDMI port. I suspect it is the straight connector end of the cable which is at fault also. (still happy thou, making nice pictures, learning the 'flow ... still have a "good" attitude)

If you prefer to use a right angle to right angle cable, purchase the "RED-EVF" one. They are identical in functionality....

A note to the Red team,

I have multiple Lemos where the first link in the stress relief molding has failed, rendering the entire stress relief molding useless, just like Rick's.

Hopefully something that can be fixed on the next production run?

incredible, I read this when? yesterday? and today the lcd turns green and shows strange white lines when I adjust the lcd arm, then the screen turns black, and after some pulling on the cable it's okay; but for how long? Does anyone know what the warranty on the cables was? I maybe still be within a year of receiving red nr. 4250

i have made all my own back ups and all with 90 degree angle. you can just by your own connectors the right Belden cable and just do it.

btw.. im getting some funky things happening in the LCD.. like weird bands. or rectangles coming off of a light source.. Ive seen this BACK IN THE DAY build 11 and 12.. but is this just a build thing? anyone else getting this.. ONLY IN LCD

My LCD just started to drop out (switch off) on occasions - am usually able to get it back by pressing the buttons on top of the LCD so I'm not sure it's cable related. It's only been happening recently - anybody else experiencing this?

Joseph - RED sell a 6ft and 10ft LCD cable - they work great on the Steadicam - we use the 10ft to rig up the Flyer and other Steadis for RED. You might want to look at the battery belt clip too if you don't already have one - we use that strapped to the Flyer's battery plate and run the cable up the mast - all works very well.

Hey Joseph,
Red does offer a 6' viewfinder cable which can run down the entire length of the pipe. We experimented with quite a few different layouts but found this configuration to be the easiest and best balanced. I have attached a couple of pics that may help. Also notice that the drive is taped to the top of the 12" rods on the top of the camera. Also, notice that we are using the Birger mount with a 14mm lens. The wider the better with the actioncam.
