I did searches on this and couldn't really find anything so I decided to ask. I read somewhere that uncompressed 4k video takes up about 4.5TB per hour. Is there any thoughts on how much space the 3k video will take up from the scarlet. I want to get the camera and am trying to gauge a total price (approximately) that I will need. I wanted to build an 8TB NAS storage in RAID 0+1 but didn't know if this would hold enough footage.

Thanks,
Rex

As far as I know, RED doesnt really shoot uncompressed. They've got a great codec that allows you to shoot high quality compressed footage, making the video you shoot be more reasonable in terms of file size.

REDCODE is a variable bit rate codec so TRT's vs file size change but,

4k 16:9 is running somewhere in the range of 110gbs per hour.

The 16GB CF card hold 8 minutes of 4k footage.

so let say (just est) 3K 90GB per hour?

Thanks a lot. Sounds like it will (hopefully) takes up a lot less space then I expected.
