I had put the Epic money in the market, looking to make additional stash for accessories. Do you feel this week will be a market crash below 8,000 on the DJA. I'm considering going cash again. Your thoughts and why???

No the market will bottom out at about 9300 in a worst case. It would take something like a sovereign default to crash it 1700 points in 1 week. And no country has indicated that that is about to happen. Yes Europe is in the shit at the moment, but not as much as the media would like the headlines to sound fantastical. I would probably pull out if your in profit at the moment though, cash is always safer when its for an important investment, consider the Epic your investment instead. There are several possible scenarios playing out, of various degrees of magnitude. We need more price discovery to be able to figure out where this market stands, but I think a pullback to 8,000 is highly, highly unlikely... but not entirely impossible. When you filter the noise, what is really plaguing these markets is not the European debt crisis -- there's a domestic liquidity crisis. The retail investor has left the table, leaving a bunch of quants shooting at each other, using a bunch of highly leveraged instruments. These are casino conditions which make price discovery nearly impossible and are creating all of these wild market swings, which are extremely challenging to play.

If I had to make a call, I think we will find price stabilization in the 9000-range, but these conditions make it extremely difficult to build predictive models beyond the day-to-day. This market is quite unhinged from what is considered "normal" within the standards of usual market chaos.

It is very hard to find good investment vehicles, and trading short-term swings is a challenge. Stops are triggered so easily with this degree of volatility that it makes it hard to stay in a trade, even when you have made a good directional call.

If I were playing with my EPIC money in this market environment, I'd be tempted by a "buy the dividend" strategy, using the most stable, low-beta stocks you can find with a 4-5% yield. It won't make you big money in a short time frame, but it's substantially better than a savings account. At this point, you may be too underwater, though, to make it worthwhile, if EPIC starts shipping in the next 6 months. Better to just put it in the RED account and take your earliest possible ship date and put it to work as soon as possible.

If my advice from past experiences which costed me 250K are worth anything to you Vlad, keep the money were it is safe.. THE BANK... Epic it is not far away..in fact it is closer that many think, I perceive no delays form the Tattoo program and the announced July/August shipping dates still stands strong to me, investing money at high risk for a month or so months? Not a good call.

You will make much more money in rentals asap as you get the Epic-X which with that money you can buy all the accessories you want buddy, so don't do it ,keep the money ready.

looks people.. im gunna teach everyone a quick history lesson.. just to prep you all for whats about to happen...

no FIAT currency has ever lasted more than 40 years... it just cant happen.. mathematically..

we are currently seeing the collapse of the euro..as well as other currencies..

the us dollar became a fiat currency (no longer backed by the gold standard)
in 1971 with Richard Nixon..

2010-1971 = ??? 39 years..

not to scare you.. but im predicting novemberish we should see a total collapse of the us dollar.. hyperinflation and beyond.

im not the only one.. there are many many many economic wizards who say the same thing.

so buy your shit now! also.. prepare yourself

I for one. would pull ANYTHING i had in the "market" asap.. that shit is about to fail hardcore...

ok im done...

read history books if no one believes me...

In the worst scenario, I'll it my own tomatoes and drink rain water :)

Not saying Zakaree's right or wrong. But it would be nice for some who don't have a R-1 to trade in for an Epic X if RED would open up reservations for the Epic and let people put down a (non-refundable) deposit. Then, RED could go ahead and order parts at current prices and pretty much guarantee that a buyer would receive his or her Epic at the current quoted price (remember, all things subject to change etc.) The deposit would have to be non-refundable so that RED would have protection if suppliers should default on their agreements if things go (sic) wierd.

Not saying anything is about to happen, but it might give peace of mind to those who worry.

Epic X program is pretty well locked in, so no need to do anything there.

Zakaree, you wouldn't happen to be a fan of the Mises Institute or the School or Austrian Economics would you? Judging by your comments, and I agree with your logic, you should check them out. They have a good economic policy and theories that usually always contradict mainstream media's interpretation of the economy and provide a more critical look at our situation. I find their stuff very thought provoking and well thought out.

Collapse of the American Dollar, does that lead to the introduction of the Amero?

There is a pretty good community of traders I follow at stocktwits.com (and stocktwits.tv). There are a variety of opinions which is good because it means you're getting different ideas.

Giving market advice is always dangerous, if you're right you get no credit 'cause it seemed obvious. If you're wrong you get blame.

However, there is generally a lilttle pop up before a holiday weekend (this weekend) That might have happened overnight already it might continue - but I think personally if I was thinking of shorter term income especially I wouldn't be playing with the market. a) the odds are against you unless you've been doing it successfully for five or so years. b) right now the sentiment is really not bullish. If you asked this question like two months ago when there was up day after up day - different story. Will it boune now? It might... then it might fall down.

I actually had a conversation just today with a successful hedge fund manager who is adamant about being in cash right now.

As for will the world collapse?

Well... it's sure an odd time right now isn't it? Sort of like the curtain has been pulled back. Personally I think there are too many synthetic ways to keep the market afloat. And, btw, if the euro value goes down, the dollar value goes up... so that would have to be counteracted before the us dollar can totally collapse in value.

That said, I'm pretty neutral to bearish on everything right now. so much uncertainty.

north american union.. yikes...

most likely they will go straight to the one world government.. new world order.. all in one currency.. just think.. a monopolistic gov.. YIKES!

The charts look to me like the DJIA is going back down to the lows of last year.

Markets are rarely this symmetrical...classical Fibonacci retracement theory would be looking at 3 waves down from 5 waves up...around 9400 on the DJIA (not a hugely useful indicator, in my opinion, at least not in isolation) and 1,014 on the S&P.

With all eyes on these levels, we are unlikely to perfect them, but I think they give a pretty good idea of where this current market could go. Personally, I would like to see the markets find a level at around 950 -1121. I believe the markets overshot on the downside and then again on the upside and that a little sideways choppiness at these levels would make sense for reasonable valuations and would allow the retail investors to gain their footing and get back into markets at reasonable price levels.

Allowing time for a little debt destruction would not hurt either. This would be an ideal set-up for market stabilization, which we desperately need. We need retail investors to regain confidence and trust in the capital markets, in order to have a healthy market.

Personally, I don't think we have enough data points available to be making incendiary claims about currency collapse.
