Still image sizes

[Fernando Venegas]

Hi Everyone, new here and also new to motion picture cameras. I come from the still's side of photography but have always been interested in motion pictures. I have a question that has probably been discussed already but I haven't been able to find the answer to it in the forums.

What are the estimated file sizes (Megabytes) for stills recorded out of the scarlet 2/3 interchangeable and the S35 scarlet?.

Thank you ahead of time.

Fernando

Hi Fernando, these are approximations based on what RED has hinted about the sensor sizes: 2/3" Scarlets - 4.9MP, S35 - 13.8MP.

Thank you Justin.

He asked about file sizes, not resolutions...

But you can probably get a fairly good idea of how big the files will be based on that.

I'm guessing off the camera we would see file sizes anywhere from 1-3 MB per frame but not much more than that. Certainly in line with high quality JPEGs from DSLRs. Though of course with RAW grading built-in.
