Steven must have some very inspirational tools to work with... ;)

Ever since I watched the Che BTS video on shooting RED, I have seen him in a completely different light - man, what a ROCKSTAR! Faith, determination and unshakeable confidence, not to mention balls of steel (figuratively speaking: I don't know if his balls are really made of steel ) And a very talented filmmaker to boot!

Keep on trucking Steven and keep on rocking RED.

What's surprising to me is that EVERYONE isn't shooting on red

I don't disagree. But OTOH there are two other viable platforms:

- Arri Alexa

- Film

Anyone - producer, director, DOP - working with a serious budget who is not shooting the equivalent of the above is not thinking things through very well.

But hey. What do I know. I don't work in the industry.

Everyone isn't shooting Red right now simply because supply cannot fulfill demand... If Epics were available by the 10's of thousands, I believe the Red install base would be much bigger. When Red ramps up production to clear Red One owners backorders and opens stage 4, then I'm almost sure the market will be, in its majority- for Features, Commercials and big broadcast productions at least-going Red. (I want to get one, for example, but cannot yet!)

The only scary thing I feel with the Scarlet is Jim's "Never be out of backorder" comment. Every independent filmmaker (if the camera becomes what I think will become) or independent small to medium production house will Have to have one- it will be the professional standard for the independents. And we are talking almost 10x or 100x the potential Epic user base. All built in USA by Red, which, as optimistic as I am, I cannot help but feel a bit concerned about shipment volumes due to the huge demand these cameras will have ... I'm not saying that this cannot be done in the USA, but it would need one heck of a facility and a vast number of employees! Canon, Panasonic, Sony, etc. have this kind of infrastructures established and done in various countries.

November 3rd, however, was stated as not only an announcement of a product, but the announcement and readiness to take orders and being ready to ship. So I expect the unveiling of some cutting edge manufacturing capabilities by Red!

Exciting times!
