Steve Gibby in Middle of a Earthquake in Chile!

Gibby, good to know that you are safe and what an experience. Lim

Wow, what an adventure!
Glad to hear that you're safe and sound, Steve!
Looking forward to your pictures and stories.

Got this message from Gibby and just heard he just got on a plane:

Extremely happy about this Jarred, since after last talking to Steve's wife Pam, She was in tears, worry seek about Steve stranded in Chile.

Glad all worked out well for Steve at the end, well surely left some of an unforgettable survival experience, and now our toughs continue to go to those in Chile.

Racing the wave

Racing the wave

Very glad to hear Gibby is OK, what a wonderful heart and spirit.
His words about embracing life are a good reminder.
Any confirmation he has already been able to get on a plane? I ask because I am on the Seattle Heart shoot and was planning to go up to his place tomorrow with his wonderful wife Pam to prep his gear for the gig. We were thinking that getting back in time for the shoot would be a neat trick all by itself.

I am really looking forward to hearing the Chile stories in that Gibby drawl. Dangerous or not, the experiences we have in this business are one of the reasons I can't imagine doing anything else.

Cheers - #19

In deed Blair Steve is one of a kind!!

BTW: To clarify, Pam just confirmed that do to the Airport being absolutely slammed!! Gibby is not on a Plane unfortunately, amongst many, He is on a BUS from Santiago to Buenos Aires Argentina, from which He will then hopefully get flight back t the US but He is not expected back till Thursday.

I surely hope that he gets back safe.
With this happening , it reminds us to what it takes to do such a job, no matter how cool it can be sometimes , and how much risk there always rests above our heads, even when we're not aware.

Let's hope for the best!!!!

Ketch,

Are you sure Steve is in a bus to Buenos Aires?

Buenos Aires is over 15 hours from Santiago.

What about traveling in bus to Mendoza Argentina, instead Buenos Aires? Mendoza is just 5 hours from Santiago.

Good!

Good!

Very happy Steve is fine.
Please, if anything I can do for him or other people you know here in Chile, let me know, I´m in Santiago.

Glad to here Steve is fine.

Graeme

Kind of had a good feeling about Gibby. Nice to know he's ok.

You couldn't have been much closer. So glad you made it. There has been little to no reporting on the tsunami close to the epicenter on the major news outlets. Just make it back safely to tell your tale. You are fortunate and we are fortunate to have you.

Yeah Christian, I'm sure, I talked on the phone with Pam, Steve's wife, She told me that Steve as well as many others could not get a flight out of Santiago as the Airport there was overwhelmed, so I imagined that those given the choice as Steve, decided to ride the BUs to Buenos Aires, other then just waiting around for days in Santiago.

I imagine that traveling to Buenos Airs was so they could catch the International flight from there, I doubt that Pam She miss understood what Steve told her.

Either way what is important to me is that Steve is safe and sound and on the way home, even if He is forced to take the long way home.
