  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Step into Jim's shoes

Hi Albert,
I´m on MX sensor. It´s stunning! If you still work with the M-sensor the upgrade to Epic will blow you away! Anyway, your CC is so good I could not tell it´s not MX (which only shows how good R1 M is in the right hands).

See you,

Marc

Please shed some light! (no pun intended) Was that all natural lighting? Please tell us the lighting techniques you used. Thanks!

(edit) Didn't see your reply where you mention the lights you used but can you still enlighten me?(pun totally intended)

r1-m is soo smooth in its sweet range.

Wow that was harsh. I am P.S.T. but I got banned. I still want to know what lighting techniques you used! Thanks.

Hi Aaron
Ia m not very good in technical vocabulary, so I apologies if I sound silly.
I have tried to bring as much light/sun as I could, it's factory after all.
I used mainly jokers.
joker 800 for the harsh backlight (par)
joker 400 with Chimera/lenses fill/key
joker400 for burned blotches in the background.
Leds for eyes and additional highlights.

I have also used a lot of fluorescent working lights.
They had some very good quality "kinos" they gave same throw as 4/4 kino with minimum green spike and no flicker.

Often I have used diffused arri tungsten 300 and 150 on peoples faces to get some life in them:)
I enjoy mixing daylight and tungsten.

The backlight was often directed almost at the lens to get some spill and lens flare.
I was shooting light often through furniture windows and whatever I could find to brake the light without loosing the throw.

Too many setups really...
thats all from top of my head.

Cheers

Thank you Marc
M is all I need at the moment.
I would definitely go for it if I was renting.

Loved it. The image quality is amazing. Great shots. Wow...

Just a small titling note. The one about CAD drawings is so short (at about 3 min), you can't read it before it's gone.

There's also bad grammar in the titling at 3:35. "Quality control lead by team of specialist."

Should be "Quality control lead by a team of specialists."

Great work. I could only dream of doing something so good.

Thanks!
The text is just for the placement purposes as it's work in progress.

I am going to have to take it offline tomorrow, but will share in December the final version.
Thanks again to you all for the great comments.

Really looking forward to the final, Albert!

Thanks Albert. I really found it helpful. I was also wondering how you overcranked the Red1?

According to the specs the frame rates are :

PROJECT FRAME RATES 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97 fps @ 4.5K, 4K
plus 50, 59.94fps @ 3K, 2K

(I don't own or have touched a red) :(

Actually, it should read "Quality control led by a team of specialists."

Aaron
Red goes up to 120 fps in 2K
I used it on couple of shots...

Mark thanks for the correction, the text is a "dummy" and placed only for the reference.
