You don't find it a little ironic that you created a representation of their brand, with (presumably) no legal authorization, and now you are complaining that they ripped YOU off? :confused1:

You have a good point indeed...but it is still frustrating :(

Yeah there is exactly zero in common with those two spots. So are all spots by a river your idea?

Nick
Edit - I get it now, all spots by the Mississippi river are your idea. Gotcha.

Sorry to say I have to agree with the others - aside from the fact that both commercials are shot on a riverbank they don't seem to have anything in common at all.

If you're looking for a 3rd party opinion, I'd say that while there are superficial similarities between the 2 spots, creatively there are Huge differences. Your spot might have made certain things occur to them, but imho, they did Not rip you off.

Gotta agree with the pundits; the Farrell character is nothing like yours, and the message of the piece is nothing like yours. They have another spot as well, so theirs is beginning to look like a developed campaign which again, does not share the same message as your one off. It further weakens your position.

Just be flattered that the spots look somewhat similar. Consider it an acknowledgement and maybe a tip of the hat if you like, but that is as far as it goes... At best.

You know, if theirs were an acknowledgement of your YouTube spot they might be interested to tie the two together somehow. If you were to approach them in a positive manner, with the right idea you might be able to squeeze some $$ out of it.

Farrell is known for his Gump-like nice guys and yours is aggressive and crude. A point/counter-point could work. What if yours were to call theirs out on YouTube?

It's all good, we have a fun plan to hopefully entice Ferrell into doing something...we'll see if he bites.
