Wireless follow focus
Daylight suitable monitor
Wireless video transmitter

I would appreciate everyone's ideas.

If there is a consensus we can contact manufacturers as a group (after the purchases for the rigs are wrapped up).

Note: Proline offer accessories on their site (though I was unable to click through to their 'components' page).

Let me know if I should add other categories (I'm a newbie)

Wireless monitor solution:

We had a Paralinx Arrow rigged up on David Winters steadycam for the Proline/Laing test, transmitting a signal to a Flanders Monitor at the video village... minimal lag, worked great.

I spent the last few months researching a wireless follow focus solution and decided against the Redrock micro at this stage simply because there are almost no real-world reviews and i'm worried mostly about connectivity issues as they were unable to showcase the units wireless abilities at last years NAB. Maybe this year they'll have that figured out but i'd like to see more testing and testimonials on the production unit before i buy.

I ended up grabbing a RTMotion MK3 with the older MK2.5 controller. just got it so i'm still testing etc.

Great initiative, Brett!

The top tier for wireless FF are the Bartech, Arri and Preston. Ideally, you get something most 1st AC's are comfortable with, so you don't have to do training each time you show up to set. The Small HD DP-7 is a great monitor, gorgeous color and rugged.

I own the RTmotion mk3 set and can only highly recommend it. Also, as an alternative to the Arrow, there's the Teradek Bolt.

+1
This is a piece of art for the price ! Every assistant was impressed and pleased of the high quality, response, torque, etc.
And I can see that we have the same taste fot tools David because I also recommend the Teradek. I hate HDMI...

And what RedRock do in the list of wireless video ? I have been looking in the linked page but I don't see any wireless video system...

What is the issue with HDMI wireless systems..?

Remember once there was a Teradek group buy and then suddenly alot of
those started showing up for sale used on here.

I just listened to the RC Podcast with Jason Wingrove and Mike Seymour, Jason was very complimentary about the follow focus. Said it was very responsive and well built - and he is a very picky fella. It's just quite new so there aren't many impressions yet. The cine tape works well too apparently.

Carey, do you know if you can map the RRmicro remote to mimic 300degree rotation on stills glass (as in, give it a non-linear calibration)?

Hi Mike, I remember at NAB 2012 they demonstrated to me how the controller will map any lens to either 1 to 1 (15 degrees = 15 degrees ) or convert small degree movements on still lenses to map on a full rotation of the wireless controller (15 degrees to 270 degrees). It was pretty epic. I was sold.

heres a video (different time, same kid explaining)

I'm not one to judge, especially on a products i've never used... but the Redrock micro system is very efficient and cost effective. Great Product for the money!!

If you are willing to use HDMI (which I am) there are a lot of consumer wireless video products available with very good prices (150 $ - 300 $ ) 10 - 45 meters range, very good quality - some say even uncompressed quality, zero latency.
I have researched a few. The good thing is since these are for consumers, there are a lot of buyers and reviews.
Some of the professional expensive ones have inside the same components.

With a wireless follow focus no such luck. There is a chinese one for 600 $ , but without proper reviews I wouldn't advice buying it.

redrockmicro Wireless Bundle - Price: $2,385.00 , this seems like the best choice. Good price, good performance. As far as I saw from this product videos and videos of other wireless FF - this one - the redrockmicro seems to have better response, lower latency. What's the disadvantage of this system compared to a 6000 $ or more system ?
