Hi Gurus,
Okay so I recently started using a glidecam 4000 with smooth shooter vest I LOOOVVVEEE the moves im getting! Adding a whole new dynamic to my style. Problem i have is I just bought a 17-50 red 2.9 lens and its super heavy almost to the point to balance it my glidecam arm is struggling with the wieght. Any suggestions on a glidecam/steadicam products I can use that can handle the wieght. Im about 13lbs Im super new to this whole glidecam thingy but man its a blast!

cheers!

While the next logical step up would be the X10 - I would highly recommend you try to spring up the extra cash for the X22.
It sounds like you are "hooked" onto the craft, so might as well get something that will cover you for years to come and give you the options to fly other stuff as well (which will help paying it off that much faster). Once you start adding manual cine lenses like the RPZ, soon you need to start thinking about wireless FIZ controls and monitoring. You will find that the heavier the rig the smoother shots you get...

Just my 2 yen

A used video SK steadicam runs around 4K. You get 12volt power out of that sled. Some came with NP-1 or AB batt mounts. I think the later version of that arm would have a 19lb payload. Only one set of bones though.

x10 is just an extra arm i think. Im mainly afraid of my hd4000 falling apart while flying it. the x22 is a lil steep but i might have to shoot for that. Any other rigs you can think of in the 4-6k range? thanks

Your Glidecam HD-4000 will not fall apart even with 15 Pounds on it.

Also, look for the Glidecam X-20 (not the X-22), which is about to be released.

:)

The GLIDECAM X-20 will have a MSRP of $ 5999.00

Can't wait Martin! If You guys don't have a rep here in Japan - send me a PM. I doubt there is anyone here with as much knowledge and experience with your gear, as myself...

good to know ;) how would you suggest counterbalancing it i fill it up with weights and its top heavy.

You can extend the telescoping center post out to make the center post longer, and/or you can add
more counterweights or washers to the base platform.
