  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Stanley on the run

Thanks. I will post some more frames, based on what I have learned... :)

These are extremes...

But niw it is rapidly approaching Christmas and familytime.

WHich is good. But does not leave much time for shooting.

Marks stuff is lovely!

A warmer version that conceals noise better: (Please download the original 4K .mov's of each of these by

that is a good point when dealing with low light images Matt. Just pushing things up from the 2800k range to around 3800k can do a lot when it comes to reducing the blue channel noise (if noise free images is what someone wants to go for) I haven't looked at these r3ds yet but generally since the r1m sensor I always activate that blue channel by using an 1/8 blue in the matte box just to clean up some of that noise.

These dragon examples of gunleiks are great because we can see that these candle lit shots far outperform film but has the same kind of visually pleasing texture we have come to know and love.

What Gunleik says about the palate is very true. It's wider and yields a pleasing image, even in low tungsten source light, where digital sensors generally loose sharpness and overall color performance (even in the stills world).

So for people who want lower noise, I suspect with dragon with the stops extra stops using an 1/8 blue might still be a good way to kill noise, that is if you are a stickler for it.

I love the look of the examples I have seen. I'll dig into the r3ds a bit later today.

thanks for posting this example.

Yep here is some motion

Tiff sequence scaled and crop in after Effect CS6
Interesting enough the m4v source I did upload was almost without block.
Ha ha ha Vimeo did a good job on top of me.

It look likes the dragon sensor is very forgivable.
Thanks Gunleik.

By the way, is it me or those two dots are hotpixels?

I don't know, I thought they were highlights on her necklace, like the sparkles in her eye and on the dolls legs that also flash at one point.

Definitely not hot pixels. looks like glints off the necklace. Hot pixels wouldn't dance around like that.

Necklace make sense, jumper didn't.

La messe est dite.
Bling bling.

Awesome color!

Thanks for the "sweet" pixels Gunleik. All redlogfilm->resolved.

Thanks. Dragon is different...

As to the silly ISO discussion, this was shot at 2000. THAT does not realy mean anything...

Agree.

Images stir emotion. An image can stop you, make you think.

How anyone gets there is curious bafflegab. Sometimes too many worry about the how instead of the what (end result).

iso 2000. Cool! :)
