  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Stanley on the run

Gunleik, thanks for sharing! Low-light shots looks very impressive compared to MX sensor, I'm still able to get some colour contrast from candle-lit images. And noise have some lovely texture, not "digital"

@ Nikolai

Yep.
That is what got me sold on the Dragon. Not dr, low noise or resolution, but fidelity.
I do kinda understand that the way the Dragon works, these are closely connected factors.
Still fidelity and nuances is what triggers me with it.

It is just so much more gentle than anything I have used up to now.

The palette is so much wider.

Yes, Gunleik. There is much more colours to dig. Have a good time with Dragon and Celestina, hope to see more R3Ds fom you soon)

I'm impressed...

Like the way the candle in the back is acting, it is a proper back light source.
As for the noise still looking for it. :-)

Thanks Gunleik.

It's very GWTDT-looking.

Plus, you can pull Iris/Pupil differentiation on a candle-lit scene… that's pretty amazing.

Just to be clear.

Those are the only lights. It is dark outside (if you need proof, I have), and there are only these lights.

It is significantly less than a campfire...

One significant difference I see when I look at the pushed images, compared to the M and MX sensors, is the lack of patterned noise. (the vertical lines)

And that, of course, contributes to the usability of lower exposures or the lower range of an exposure on the Dragon...

Sanjin those are nice grades. Can't believe she is lit with just candles!!!

Nick thanks but I wouldn't call them a final grades just because these images are straight away out of RCX Pro

and have got only two simple adjustments like a ISO 1600 and FLUT 0.7...

A pretty cool little camera that new RED Dragon, isn't it?

I haven't been able to download the last file, gets so far then stops and is an empty zip folder. Would have liked to have had a play with the shot where she's sitting there with the candles.

I checked that the file is on the server...
But I think they are not too fond of file-hosting, even though I do not know what I should do with all that space except for hosting files... :)

Filip has mentioned using a downloading app for the larger files. I dunno which. But that is a tip.

I will not give general ftp access, for some silly reason... :)

Would love to see some motion grades of it, actually...

No worries, will look into using a download manager or something.

A warmer version that conceals noise better: (Please download the original 4K .mov's of each of these by clicking on download on Vimeo)

I really hate both Vimeo's and Youtubes compression! Download the original .mov on Vimeo to see it without crap compression.
