A video montage of scenes from Stanley Kubrick’s classics such as
2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket and others,
that highlight the legendary filmmaker’s penchant for symmetry and the one-point perspective shot.

Stanley Kubrick - One Point Perspective

I love Kubrick, but "one point perspective" ? Please, lets just call it like it is.. Shots that are framed well..Camera's that are leveled properly.. There is no magic here. There is no need to coin some term for proper framing. And yes, he framed beautifully, but most other Directors and Cinematographers do too, or they wouldnt be working.

Any time you set up a camera you are either in One Point Perspective or Two Point Perspective (or hell, Three Point if you're tilted). No new phrase is being coined, this is pretty common terminology in the art and drafting world.

More appropriately, we're mostly looking at bilateral - and to be specific - vertical symmetry. There is some radial symmetry as well. One-point perspective does not have to be symmetrical by any means. Example:

What's not important is what you call it...

It is important how and when you use it, why you choose it, and what effects it has on the viewer - intended or otherwise. Kubrick is a master.
