shit! i watched a making-of from t2 on youtube just earlier today where he was speaking about his work on the movie. a great loss...:-(

Apparently he had been battling his disease for the past several years. Still working, giving us great creatures and practical effects, the last of which was Iron Man. He had at lest to more movies in production James Cameron's AVATAR and Terminator 4.

A little bit of the magic of film has gone away now and forever.

What a legend - Stan Winston will be so missed - he really knew how to incorporate physical effects as well as keeping CGI to the minimum to sell the reality of his outlandish creations!

He was so associated with my childhood that I felt really sad when I read about his death in the Time... He and and Cyd Charisse, for that matter, in the same magazine... That's a lot of film history gone in one week... I hope he and Jim Henson have a nice rest now... Peace to this legendary artist of films. We'll miss you... :rip_1:
