This sucks. I guess I will have to change my sig. :(

I’m Tom (aka Spinner), a Stage6 user and an employee of DivX, Inc., the company behind the service. I’m writing this message today to inform you that we plan to shut down Stage6 on February 28, 2008. Upload functionality has already been turned off, and you’ll be able to view and download videos until Thursday.

Stage 6 is a such a great idea - high-quality video that can be viewed and even downloaded at blazing speed. It was kind of an HD version of youtube.

Jannard, why don't you buy them out and switch the codec to redcode? :)

Ditto. I enjoyed watching your signature!

I'm getting all the HD content I like off of Stage 6 before it closes. MUAHAHAHA! Anyone have any recommendations?

Hahahha... me too. I've been on a downloading rampage there all day...

I will sign up there and give it a look.

Are there any other high-quality video sites like this?

I believe this is the best and the quality is really good for a youtube-like site. It's way better than youtube itself and offers HD web playback :). Also, it seems that the users are mostly fellow content-creators, so you could say that it's more "pro" :).

Check it out!

The other option would be Vuze, which is also very good. It's torrent based and offers similar quality.

Cheers.

I guess Google didn't bite on Stage 6.
I am sure Google will be rolling out
YouTube HD before too long.

upping youtube to higher quality is a necessity, but at the same time it can and will be a big pain in the ass since load on the internet will heavily increase. video sites are already the biggest cause for traffic.
