Good Day,

Has anyone seen a rubber plug we can use to protect dirt from getting into the SSD port when no card is inserted? I have the ones for the CF cards but now that I am into SSD I think it would be a good idea.

Cheers,

Plus one.
Excellent idea Robert!

Without a doubt, this will end up being a necessary item for every SSD slot on every RDC camera.

While talking SSD options:
1. Extra protective end caps to cover the connector end of the SSD's when they are not in the camera or RED Station.

2. A moisture resistant, ESD safe protective case for a single 1.8" SSD.
Something with a form factor comfortable enough to to put in a pocket yet durable enough to protect the drive from damage.

3. Expand the storage case line in the RED Store to include 4 and 6 packs for 1.8" SSD's (I understand that many people have already fed this idea into their Bomb Squad reps)

3A. Expand the storage case line in the RED Store to include 12 pack cases for 2.5" SSD's.

Thanks!

Excellent as well! That would be a sweet bundle for Red to offer. Maybe Jim is listening? Shhhhhh be very quiet.

Sorry for bringing back up an old thread but I couldn't find an answer when searching online. Has anyone found a solution for Rubber Port Covers for the SSD's similar to the P2 Card Covers?

Well, you know what we use in film business if there is no ready-made solution, do you?

This works for now, but I'm going to need to find a summertime solution.

I remember emailing AS&L last summer about this and never heard back from them. In the meantime, what about leaving an SSD card in the slot when the camera is "down?" Any pro's or con's to this?

I would never leave a card in. Too precious and just another place to look for it when I am missing one cause someone did not put it back in its case : )
