  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Splitting packs

I'd split a 64GB SSD pack. I live in TN. LEt me know and we can order soon.

Ok placed my order for a 4pack of 64GB REDMAGs earlier this week, order is paid and should ship sometime soonish. Who wants 2 new REDMAGs and the case in NYC? Not really looking to make a profit, I think $1650 for 2 of my brand new REDMAGs in the case seems reasonable.

Hey Noah thanks again for the fast replies.. Ready and waiting on you. Call me when you receive them.

I'm curious how you guys that are interested in only 1 SSD are planning to shoot, a single 64 especially. Once you are done shooting your ~20 mins of footage are you going to halt production to wrangle your data to your laptop for 10 mins, verify checksums and then put it back in the camera and shoot again for 20 more minutes ad infinitum until the end of the shoot? I know Red's SSD mag prices are relatively high, but only 1 card -- really? Please enlighten me how you plan to pull this off. I am not being rhetorical, I'm serious.

Bear in mind warranty vanishes when you resell. Nothing stopping you doing it, but Red's obligations would only lie with an original purchase. If you're only buying one card, think carefully about the dollars you're saving :)

@ Jon

The real question should be do you have DIT services ,I do. Whilst 1 card would be a pain, 2 are more than enough for shooting & keeping the work "up to the DIT". Also with this workflow you want smaller SSD's not bigger, bigger cards mean longer transfer times , more checking files etc. etc. etc. It all depends what line of production your in, mine is commercials. However I appreciate if your shooting sports, nature or other long form type productions limited SSD capacity could be disaster.

While what you say might be true for some - for others 10 minutes of not filming is acceptible. In a 10 hour shooting day, how much time is the camera actually rolling?
Personally, if you time it all correctly, you can hand the ssd off to someone while you're setting up the next shot, and this is pefectly acceptible. Also - the people likely to shoot with just 1 ssd are also the people that will be able to compromise with higher compression (thus increasing the 20 minute limitation)

I received my 4pack of 64gb ssd that I wanted to split and am looking to get rid of 2 64gb SSDs and the case. I'm in NYC and only want to meet in person. Basically I think $820/card or $1650 for 2cards+case seems very reasonable.
