Stereo lens for 2x2k on REDONE?
Stereo lens for 2x2k on REDONE?
You can get two old 25mm Baltar lenses and mount them side by side with a shield between them, make a rack focus to move the pair in and out of the mount, in front you need four front surface mirrors, that is the way the Bolex 3D lens worked, more or less.
The 25mm Baltar covers 35mm full so it would work, and the lens part is only about half an inch in dia. you would need to make a tool to set the two iris, or gear them to a pinion so they turn together. This work could be done by any good machine shop.
You could also use some video lenses that have small enough cells and cover 2/3" or 1" format. But the 25mm Baltar seems the best choice, its f/2.3 and sharp enough to work corner to corner. If the lens body is a little too fat you should be able to mill some off since the brass part is a few mm thick.
Post is simple if you just leave the two images within the 4K frame, and use a mirror viewing hood on the monitor to see the playback in 3D...

Cinemano
I have been looking at that same Loreo thing with great interest.
Its only $100 but I have so many $100 pieces of junk around that I really didnt want to be dissapointed again (anybody want apoor man's steadicam). But in principle it should work. You wouldnt get 2 x 2k though as you would lose a fair amount of the image on the dividing line of the 2 frames.
But please keep me updated if you try this thing out.
There are some cheap softwares for encoding this video....
I forget the name -nothing a 5 minute google search wont find out though.
