I suspect there will be a dozen 4K (or higher) cameras in a decade, from all kinds of manufacturers, at very affordable prices. I don't think Spielberg cares about what kind of camera he uses as long as the pictures look good, the technology is rock-solid reliable, the stories get told, and the films reach their intended audience.

If you had told me five years ago that Sony would have a 4K camera for $65,000, I would've told you that you be crazy. And here we are...

It's interesting that Spielberg mentions Red by name and only red however I suspect that's only from working around Peter Jackson recently then his future prediction of what camera he would choose.

Do not forget that Spielberg was the producer of "Super 8", the picku-up shots and a couple of scenes on this film were shot on Red One.
