So, we now have a look at The Sphere in Las Vegas and I'm quite surprised! For what it is, it reminds me very much of the round Omnimax theatre that used to be at Caesar's Palace. I remember going as a kid and watching some sort of space documentary there and it was really immersive and quite jarring from a normal theatre experience but fun nonetheless. I remember the Luxor Obelisk ride theaters had a similar feel but not quite as big, save for the third big IMAX screen that was quite a scary ride experience. This definitely leans more towards Omnimax though and I wonder how audiences will take to it. I had thought it may be used to do fantastical mixed stage performances imagined in the 3D animated "Sing 2" movie, maybe it will, but this is definitely going to be something to check out. Now how to film a narrative film for this format with the Big Sky camera? That will be a different process for sure.
