  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Speculation, Scarlet S35 .. DSMC or PRO CINEMA?

why can't R1 users loyalty be rewarded with free modules for the $33k model, whats the difference?

Since you seem to be asking...because this is their way of helping to reward RED ONE users with a value-added pathway to a modular system, that is all it is....the rest is stuff you have to buy. And for whatever their business reasons, they decided that they would rather have R1 users get on the modular conveyor belt with an EPIC incentive rather than SCARLET modular pathway.

Their choice. But the big point is, they listened! And responded with a modular pathway that rewards RED ONE early adopters. How great is that?

Mysterium produces pretty pictures. Mysterium X even better, no doubt. Unless I'm Hollywood (or Offhollywood:turned: !), then Monstro is probably more than I'll need. And if I'm those folks, then Monstro is looking like a bargain, not an expense.

Before even I think to upgrade, trade or buy any new RED model

I would like to see examples or comparisons (TIFF or R3D) between

Mysterium S35 R1, S35 Mysterium-X and FF35 Monstro sensor.

It's about DR at the first.

Then after that I think about how and what I could upgrade.

Hey Mark,

Question for you...What are you going to do with a 617? I think it's awesome that RED has these options but omfg what the heck supercomputer is going to handle that data? 28k? Now I'm sure it will have to be instantly downresed to be workable but just curious why you would choose this brain over the 645 brain?

I will make movies with the 617. I will shoot sommercials and billboards and digital signage.

I will take pictures of my sons.

I will film my wife smiling.

617 will make images you can fall into.

With respect to "supercomputer" - I think you'll be blow away by the dual socket ci7 - one can make reasonable projections of what we will have by the time 617 ships - and yes, there are hardware scaling technologies - I don't think it's a small task - but I think 2 years from today - your current 8-core intel MacPro will be for playing with Lightroom at home.

Fair enough. I have no doubt that computer, software technology will have evolved immensly in the next two years. That is a certainty. No doubt the images will be unbelievable just wondering if the 617 will be a little too much muscle still for post. Time will tell I guess and hey, if you've got the plan and resources for it, go for it!

If the brains can't have sensor upgrades like the R1, maybe the Epic X Limited Editions can(or the Epic S35 and Scarlet S35)?:weight_lift:
