Specs on 18-85?

Is there any information on the 18-85, i.e. the front diameter, weight, etc?

front - ? somewhere around 139 - 142mm
the 18-85 at NAB had a excellent build at a excellent $$ ..
IMO will stand next to other lens costing 30-50k ...

What I remember at NAB was that there was hardly any breathing of the lens, it barely fits on an ARRI MB 20 mattebox, and it was smooth.

Are 4 x 4 filters large enough for the 18-85, or do you need 4 x 5.6 ?

4x4 no, 4x5 maybe but doubtful. We'll have to try 5x5, 5.65x5.65 or better yet 6.6x.6.6.

Which leaves me with the question, when are 4 x 5.6 usefull, apart when using grads where you want to be able to set the transition ?

Well, you certainly need a 4x5.65 filter to cover the 18-50 when set to 18mm.
