I can't get my clips to load. I have it all set up in REDCine with my Cowboy intermediates showing, they're all nicely matched up, when I hit the "load all" button, nothing. The window just continues to show "no media." Nothing in the clip area.

I would send along a screen grab for troubleshooting and critique, but $%^^&%^&## REDCine won't let me run two applications at the same time, so I can't use Grab to help diagnose the issue.

I must having a stupid day today...nothing is coming easy.

Anyone?

Also, I still don't understand one thing. Can I work with the M proxies in an FCP timeline and then output an XML? or not? I read through the other thread, and the answer seemed inconclusive. Must I transcode to ProRes? Can I now do this faster using RedRushes?

I tried making an XML + Cowboy Intermediates using both the proxies and also transcoded using Red Rushes to ProRes, and both yielded the same results. I can't get the intermediates loaded into REDCine, just that blankety-blank "No Media" command staring me down....

Wish I could help you Meryem but I am having problems too. I can't get Crimson to match up to the original R3ds . I am new to Crimson so I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if there might be a problem with build 16. My understanding is that M and H proxies should work.

build 16 is not yet supported by crimson, asfaik ian is busy shooting, but shows the always living in the future Mark a working crimson with build 16...

wish i would have the same coffee machine as mark to get there...hehe

Since the Cowboy intermediates are only reference files it looks like they aren't referencing anything at the moment. Have you moved the location of the original R3D's at any point?

As far as I know you should be able to edit with the proxies and generate a usable XML file.

As for RedRushes I don't believe it's faster than log and transfer (at least it doesn't appear to be when I've used it). What RedRushes does do is give you far greater control over your output than log and transfer, which gives you very little control (as in none).

Thanks, K. I have another machine with Build 15 and some old footy, that may be the crux issue, for some reason I thought I had read that folks were running Crimson on 16 without issues, but maybe I just hallucinated that....but if I can get it going on the older systems, then at least I'll know that it is just a matter of patience...

No, the R3D files are just sitting on my desktop, same as it ever was. i never moved them...trying to keep it very simple and idiot-proof, but clearly the idiot is in the house!

trick to make match work with build 16 media

trick to make match work with build 16 media

is in the Match tab: use as Match Rule Substitution and adapt if necessary Substitution : working with _H.mov files in finalcutpro ? it depends on which QT movies you use to do your edit in Finalcutpro

Actually, it does support Build 16, but you have to manually find each file. I just did a conform the other day that worked great once I matched them up.

hm, that is exactly what I did...still can't figure out where it went wrong. have to keep trying. Useful feedback though...

ok, so...it turns out that my RedCine won't open any files at all, not just the Intermediates...I attributed it the problem to CW because I considered it the uncontrolled factor, when in fact, I installed the new RedCine to work with Build 16, and now it won't open any files at all...bugger! so many things changing so fast, it's hard to keep up....

...re-install here I come!
