Hello i would to know if anybody here had work with Viktor from spbsale for LOMO PL mount conversion ?

I would like to send my lomo oct19 to him...

If anybody here can give me a feedback i would be very interested

THKS

There are a few people here who used SPBsale for conversion. I got two lenses converted there from OCT19 to PL + arri focus rings. It is less expensive than in the west, the mounts are well built and stainless steel. So a good choice for many. In general it is quite good as long as you collimate or check the collimation of the lenses afterwards. They just change the mount, they do not disessemble the lenses or adjust them afterwards. For some lenses you don't actually have to send the whole lens in even, they will send you the PL mount.

*Edit - shipping may take some time depending where you are and how much you want to pay for the courier.

I've sent my lenses to Viktor for PL mount conversion twice. His work is pretty good and reliable. The price is also better than Dima ($400 vs $450-$600).

Thx for your reply guys, i'm quite afraid about what Max said about the colimating because if i need to recolimat the lenses after the modification, the price is not so good. But Viktor told me that he will adjust the colimating; hope he will really do it.

I had three lenses converted, I took them myself to ST-Petersburg, and met Viktor, he's a nice old guy, who does not speak a word of english.
But, Viktor does not make the conversion himself, it's actually Dima Turaev who makes all the PL-mounts in St.P, and Viktor just deals with Dima.

So whether you send them to Viktor or Dima, I believe it's Dima's dad who makes the conversion (or that's what I heard).

About the collimation, they do say they collimate and re-lube the lenses, but I'm not sure about it. My lenses were collimated about right, not absolute, but the markings are not so good either.

This is completely incorrect. They most certainly do disassemble the lenses, and columate afterwords. SPB has done 4 k-35s (BNCR to PL), 4 ekran speeds (oct19-PL), 3 lomo anamorphics (Temp -PL), and I bought PL mounts for 6 lomos (that's the work they have done for me). The late model lomos you can just swap the mount with 4 machine screws. In all instances other than the late model lomo standards with the easily swappable mount, there is lathe work involved. You aren't chucking up an assembled lens and spinning it on a lathe.

They are great, do good work, and are very reasonably priced. Follow their shipping instructions. Russian customs can be a bitch if you don't do what they are expecting.

Nick

Edit - what lomos do you have? The lomo standards from the late 80's on that were housed for kinor 35-h and 35-s cameras you can order the mounts and swap your self, although you will need to shim for correct columation.

Sergey (sergastr@list.ru) makes these 32 pitch gears with focus scales marked in feet. Is he the only person who makes these, or is there another source?

Dima told me that too. He said Sergey's lenses are from him as well if I recall. But I found Sergey's lenses are different in marking and some other small details. Anyway, they probably know each other well.

I was very happy with him, he just couldn´t give me an invoice because he didn´t own a printer:)

Hello all,

I'm thinking of having my entire lomo set converted to PL, and of course I was told by several to send them to Viktor. Can anyone give me some anecdotal evidence to have peace of mind to trust the postal service with sending my lenses to and from St. Petersburg? I'm scared enough when I send them through the mail to the states, let alone out of the country.

The Russian postal service has worked OK in the past. - if you want to buy a bit more peace of mind try using FEDEX of DHL. Go with Viktor's recommendation.

wow, where did you find those? RAF camera made me some nice custom ones for my kinor set, screw on where the old pitch ones are taken off, but no feet conversion, this could be handy, for my AC's anyway :)
oh and how much per ring?

Sergey makes them, but only when he has Superspeeds on hand for reference. I think they're $150 each

Hey all, I'm just curious why everyone likes to change the lens mount over to PL rather than keep the original mount on the lens and have a new mount made for the camera side? I'm not necessarily against PL for any reason, but some of these Russian lenses are really bulky and need that big ol' honkin' OCT19 (BNCR) flange.

Also, I've been told by a couple of guys that it may be really difficult to achieve collimation with a lens originally designed for an OCT19 mount? Something about the internal mechanisms, ball bearings near the aft optics that get in the way of the PL mount... etc. I mean, it makes sense right? PL has a much shorter FFD by about 10mm, so the tail of these lenses need to be chopped down quite a bit...
