I have the next problem: Shot on red epic. Sound recorded via RODE microphone. The first 5-7 second sound twice repeated (like echo..).... Result: sound delayed and big problem for synchronization... Does anyone have similar problem?

I think it's for reasons like these that it's not a good idea to rely on camera sound for final audio. This is not a Red issue -- I have this same philosophy for all digital cameras. You need to rely on a separate mixer and sound recorder for top quality sound. (And even then, it's all about getting the right microphone in the right place at the right time.)

What firmware are you using

I had the same problem on 3.2.8
Then I went back to 3.2.13 and the problem was gone!
Now I am on 3.2.19 and everythings seems fine.

I never, ever had a problem with sound recording directly to a camera for 25 years in business.
The very first time a camera screwed up my audio was the Epic.

I'll not use beta software from RED anymore ever. No matter how good the new features are.
And even the release versions must show they are bulletproof for at least a month here in the forum until I install it.

I am using 3.0.7 Because when I installed 3.2.19 the recording does not work :-) Many guys submitted the same issue as well.... Now will try new beta firmware...

Of course, I use an external recorder to record the master sound. I need the sound record on RED to synchronize the video with the master sound. But, anyway, thanks for your reply.

Yes, I had an entire shoot (3.2.16) ruined by this. Every 14 seconds, it would repeat 82 frames of audio and get further and further out of sync. Sent log file to RED... no response at all. They're aware of the problem.

I had this happen once on my Scarlet, when I switched to 3K for a shot. Never happened on my Epic or again on the Scarlet. May be a one time thing with that firmware. Everyone will no doubt have their eye on it to ensure it's not an ongoing issue.

No response.. Yowsers ! I always wonder why a little canon camera can capture perfectly clean audio and a 50k Epic has issues...

Now I've installed the new firmware 3.3.4 beta... The first 3 tests is OK... Looks like no more problems with sound... Will do more tests tomorrow :-)

This IS a red issue and alot of camera's like the c300, xdcam f800, f3 and ex3 are all totally reliable to record sound on...Really, it shouldn't be an issue, and just work! Exactly what mark also said.
