For those of us on a budget (and who isn't?), this seems like the perfect solution to the need for ProRes that we often find ourselves facing. Very affordable, but full-featured...I've added one to my list for this year.

Remember these compromise to 4:2:2 and 48kHz. SD doesn't normally do compromise.

I don't think either of those are even that much of a compromise (4:4:4 ok, but who really needs 96kHz?), but I understand your point.

Where I figured they'd compromise is build quality but looking at the videos that doesn't seem to be the case.

Anybody figured out the frame delay on PIX240? I looked for compensation but couldn't find one.

Just got an email for the Japanese distributor that Sound Device took our request and put a new feature to be able to adjust the shift amount to the video recording by number of frames to compensate for the HDSDI and HDMI latency. I will check it our in few days.

Pix 240 rocks, Just shot a commercial with lots of VFX and high speed.
While playing back selected HS from Epic I have recorded footage to Pix240 at ProRess422HQ and right away got the files for my FCP and Vfx comparison. Footage looked great and metadata was attached.

for now: jack up your rez in Post (6% I believe).
PIX says that this is a RED issue (output of the SDI/HDMI) -and there are indications the RED Lads will be addressing this in future builds. Dropped my Dime on a 240 so remain hopeful!
