Hello everyone,

I´m looking for a way to sort my R3D footage by "Date Created" in Premiere. I found the option to show "date created" in the project Bin, but unfortunately it doesn´t show the date for the R3D Files.
For all the other Files e.g. from the DSLRs it does show the date (See attached Image).

If I right-click in the R3D files I can find out the Date under PROPERTIES --> "RED R3D DETAILS", but somehow Premiere doesn´t use this information.

Right now I´m basically only able to sort the files by name, which is a nightmare if you have different reels with the same name (e.g. A001), since they´re all mixed.
Does anyone know how to sort the files by date in Premiere (or even RedCine X)?

I´m Using the latest Version of CS6 (Version 6.0.2.) With RedPreview etc. installed
Any other suggestions?

What is RedPreview?

Maybe you could do some file renaming trickery with a third party app to suffix the filename with the date created. Or maybe just copy the date characters at the end of the file name (From 6th last to 3rd last characters) to the beginning (if you don't need time of day precision).

Hey Andrew,

thanks for the replay! With RedPreview I ment this. Nothing special just the Red Camera Plugins for Premiere.

I also thought about renaming the files. It would be additional work though and I think I read a while ago that one should keep the original filename and -structure otherwise the files might get corrupted.
I just hope that renaming the files is not the only option I have. In the meantime I´m still looking for an easier solution.

The funny thing is: Lightroom seems to be able to sort the files by date!? How can Premiere not be able to?

Doesn´t anybody else have this problem? I thought it would be most basic thing to be able to sort the files in Premiere...
