I searched but Data flows so quick..

Going out of country for summer and need mobile workstation. Weight is not major concern. Speed and GPU are.

So must be Windows machine since I also run 3D Max. Of course Adobe CC. A little RedCode but will not be the main requirement, nor will color correction.

A quick answer of course is fine. Anything that helps me narrow down the plethora of options (do I even know what that word means?)

I did see a thread a little while ago about 2 non mainstream makers and they looked interesting.

As always thank you for the assist and have a great weekend,

Scott

Wy on earth would you do 3D Max on a laptop, do you value your life at all?

You are much better off getting a small tower. MUCH. Just stick a handle on it, and buy a case for your screen - then you're kinda portable. A laptop running such processor intensive work will have about 45 minutes of battery anyway.

I am spending (our) summer in Brazil and Uruguay. So bringing anything tech into Brazil is reportedly a challenge. Bringing in a desktop and large monitor seems fraught with peril (and fees and fines)

Thank you for links. Will start more serious research

I've had nothing but good experiences with ASUS gaming laptops. You can even fit 2 internal drives in some of them. :)

Thank you. Looks like some pretty good power for under $2K !!!

The MSI Hrvoje linked has 8Gb of VRAM.... Crazy in laptop (well.. Not sure how 8Lb sits on your lap for very long :)

rhank you you very much. Would love to be able to test one before plunking down $$ but maybe just jump in an play

Haha well you didn't put that as a criteria. You wanted a 17" mobile workstation type of laptop within a price range and with higher GPU performance, so there you go. :)

Btw I have no experience with MSI laptops but I can say with experience Asus makes good ones.
