  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sorry, CS4 is not Vista stable

learn how to clean up your operating system from anything you don't absolutely need

it seems to me vista is running a lot more services than xp. Can you list which ones you've stopped from running on start up?

I have vista 64 bit business sp1 running on my office workstation, a lenovo d10 (2x xeon 3.16gh, 8gig of ram, quadro fx 4600) and i have turn off all the nice display feature, turning vista into windows 2K look (like i did with xp) and it sitlls eat so much ram just to run the os. What are you doing to low down the use of the ram to 300meg?

thanks,
antoine.

You can turn off things like Indexing, System restore, Firewall, Defender. As a guide to services to run in safe and bare bones for Vista with sp1 look here

The memory usage is a bit higher, but Vista is using the memory more efficent then XP can.

Thomas,

the error msg you provided tells me at least this much: you're running 4.0, not 4.0.1 (which is required for the RED plugin).

Cheers

To bring this back to the original discussion, the problems occured (for me)pre Red plugin and stays with them after you install the plugin, with the updated version running, 4.0.1. So this is not a Red plugin issue with regards to this thread its a problem regardless. For me and my machines and for now until they worked the bugs out, I scrapped CS4 and am staying with CS3 as CS3 was a very trouble free install on MY 3 Vista computers. CS4? Forget about it, when I pay thousands for a program, I'm in the mindset of loading my footage and working, not debugging every time I give it a command.
