I simple respect the way Red are doing business.

Just read this:
I bought a dual layer xdcam hd recording camera.
I´ve already own two of them, but single layer record and also a reader.
This units are for institucional and eng work.

For my surprise my reader dont read dual layer discs and was discountinued.
Solution: I´ve got to get a new unit and spend a lot $$$$
Shame on you Sony!

I´m dancing away on the sony´s wonderful world where money and client respect simple are not the main factor.

Tango anyone?

Sony can do this presumably because of their large scale and some what dominance in this industry, not sure how far the second part goes but the first part yeah...they sell X amount of units, probably 5 digits if not more with all their cameras. They don't really care if one or two or if a high majority of customers get hurt. They made the sale.

RED on the other hand aren't in their 5 digits but rather 4. As far as I know, they're coming up to the 5 digits but they started off caring for the customer because they themselves are customers. RED has built itself upon this model in order to change the industry. This is RED's greatest USP. This is how RED will hurt other manufactures.

Many say RED doesn't stand a chance, I call that crap. Only because once people realize the lovely fact that, If they bought a sony camera costing them $3000 today and without knowing anything suddenly a new and improved one comes out for $2000, Sony won't help out. RED on the other hand say, 'here...we sort of made a wrong choice of words the first time around but we are giving you, the customer, the benefit of supporting us no matter the wrongs and rights we have done. You are why we exist.'

Not in those exact words but that is what people will start realizing and that is when people will learn, even the small and new company can change the old and powerful.

Think Jannard said something that actually stuck with me, it was along the lines of 'yesterday we knew nothing, today we know a little more, tomorrow we might be dangerous'.

Realize everyone knows most of this, just saying...Sony won't change any time soon...so welcome to the RED game! :)

I "discover" RED on the first breath of the company.
Follow it silentlly and two years later bought my first R1.
Happy! Happy! Happy!

Sony suffers from the big company sindrome: WE DONT CARE! WE SELL!
Until the day they realize that the game as changed.

The RED game change it!

Sony will have a very bad wake up day...

It would be as if two store are competing against each other and one of them has been there for years. Customers end up moving to the one next door whilst the oldest one thinks it is doing fine etc. 10 years later, they are realizing when its too late that they need to change to be better then the one next door.

RED is way too cool. I have an FX-1. Bought it, month later the new model came out with actual XLR ports. Killed me inside knowing that it was cheaper also. This was the same time I saw the RED site but didn't see much on it. Had I known then what a real film camera was like, boy, I'd have bought one no questions asked. Guess some of us,like myself were once blind, now I'm a believer. :thumbup1:

I got sorta ripped on my FX1 since when I bought it, they charged me almost 4,000 on it, the Z1 is now last time I saw about 3,000. I may have been charged slightly more for my FX1 but thats what I get for my ignorance.
