  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sony´s forthcoming `NXCAM' line-up

But for $20 grand why is the only on-board recording format 8-bit 4:2:0 at a lower bit-rate than a T2i? My money's on Sony trying to sell external recorders... it makes sense, since that would be a very "Sony" thing to do.

This is the $6-7k camera we are talking about.... it is modular, so they may well bring out am external SSD module or similar.

The F3 is clearly setup for external recording with the internal recording purely for offline editing. It is a bit like asking why is Epic $28k and doesn't even have an internal recording option.... at this level, you are generally expecting to record to a module.

I wonder if they would force the SONY pictures division to use this technology....

I doubt it, they don't even force the use of digital cameras, most of there pictures are shot on Film.

Except

"The Book of Eli" (2010), Sales Rep: Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) Worldwide Acquisitions Group>>>Shot on RED1.

District 9(2009), TriStar Pictures, Sibling of Sony Pictures Classics / Subsidiary of Columbia Tristar Motion Picture Group.>>>Shot on RED1.

Both movies were US weekend box office.

Is it me or do all these videos put far more emphasis on the 35mm DOF and talk about glass more than capture quality and latitude.

Why are they restricting the Extra-US version from having 24p? I don't think it is a massive deal as going from 25-24 is not a big deal but still. Whats the biggie...

It's still just a development spec so far.... they will almost certainly have 24/25p switchable.

Better to wait for the final specs before worrying.

As for the F3 videos.... I think they look sublime and show a great range of shots. The wide angle stuff looks very impressive.
