SONY raising capital

The Sony Center in Berlin is up for sale for a lot of euros. Looks like Sony will have close to a billion US dollars to spend on R&D. I guess they had to do something to match Jim's sale of Oakley. I hope Sony spends the cash on the PS3 system. I am waiting for GTA4 before I get my PS3 and HDTV.

Sony has been spending like drunken sailors for the last year or more, losing something like $300 per PS3 plus the massive bribes paid to studios to kill off HD-DVD.

I can't recall the source, but I saw some figures last week that show the 40GB PS3 is actually selling for about 18% more than cost to manufacture and deliver to distributors. The other PS3 models are at a break-even point too, so it looks like their manufacturing quantities have stabilized. Although, I'm sure PS3 is still a loss if you factor in R&D and the massive marketing expenses. But the 40GB model is selling like hotcakes due to it still being one of the best Blu-Ray options out there and one of the best priced too and a game system too.
