I was at a color corecting place thursday and a walked by a room and saw some fantasic looking stuff. I had to ask what is was, and it was a test with a Sony F35 and a HDCAM SR tape recorder. The fun was that they where just capturing, and no color correcting was done, and still looked crazy good.

Cheers

because sony`s F23 doesnt record in RAW a lot of DOP adjust a lot of parameters to come closer to the look in my experience....its much nearer to the endlook then red footage.

but with red you have more choices:
gamma, log, lin, wb, curves etc.

reds advantage is that it is done in post....always removable.

anyway...the F23 is good...but we reached a time in camera development where murphys law has a huge impact to cameras...

it will be no easy ride to make a return of investment with a Sony F23 if you dont already have a strong client base.

----i saw yesterday a blow up of EX3 Footage...it looked quite nice...but i never forget that the DOP has a huge impact of what is coming to the screen.

I think he said F35...

Isn't a working F35 cam and accessories like $300,000? And that's without lenses!!!

That's a few reds...or a couple of Epics for sure.

Typically you wouldn't buy your own F35 though... unless your George Lucas or something.

I'm more along the lines of Ed Wood...LOL...so I'll see what I can do with a R1 first. :)
