Thanks, Vithya.
Yes, it has served me well, and makes pretty pictures. I'm just making room for the F55.
Let me know if you want another! ;)

Bump. Price reduced!
Cheers,
Harry

I just got a PM from a fellow lamenting the fact that I don't take Paypal and ship to Europe.
All I can say is, buy a plane ticket, come to New York, test the camera, shake my hand, give me cash.
There must be a hundred of these for sale locally on the continent. Why lament???
But seriously, if you are in or near NYC, and interested in this camera, come take a look.
Cheers,
Harry

Remember, that posts like: "i was cheated" starts a lot of paranoia. I buy and sell on eBay for over 7 Years and never even get close to scam as a Buyer or Seller. And EU Buyers look for equipment in USA, becuse it is cheaper and there's more equipment there. So, don't be paranoic, just be open to People. Scam is a myth, especially for me. If someone want to scam You, he will do it personally too with a good baseball bat or crowbar ;)
Anyway. I feel sorry if someone was cheated on eBay/PayPal, but it is not too frequent. It happens very rarely.

I don't think I'm being "paranoic", just careful.
But I am free to set the terms of my own private sale, yes? This is not controlled by a central government, correct? I'm in the United States Of America, land of the free market, like it or not.
I am also free to have my opinion regarding eBay and Paypal.
I, too, have never had a bad experience with eBay or Paypal. I think they are very useful and work well, probably statistically a high percentage of the time.
But I think a high-ticket item like a camera, or a cinema lens, or even a car, should be bought or sold in person. I'm not bashing anyone who chooses to engage in a big-money transaction electronically, and I will continue to do so for smaller items where the financial exposure is low. I just don't want to do it with a multi-thousand-dollar item.
Is that OK? ;)
Cheers,
Harry

How do they cheat using paypal? Don´t you get your money before you send it? It should be the buyer who is sceptic and should be aware in most cases.

You choose to sell your item where ever you want and how you want it for sure:)

Cash only, in person, is my rule. I handed my first camera -- a Canon GL2 -- to a guy with a "bank check" for $1900. Turned out it was only worth the paper it was printed on, and I learned my lesson.

You're entitled to take all of the precautions you need, Harry. Don't let 'em give you grief.

Roger,
Check out this link:

Apparently, even if the transaction goes smoothly initially, a buyer can claim, months later, that the item is defective, and return it to you. You are obliged to return the money.
Just one of many ways to get cheated.
Now, if I got rooked out of a $400 monitor, or $600 worth of filters, well, ouch. But I would move on without skipping a beat.
If I get rooked out of a $7,500 camera? That's real money.
Of course, it cuts both ways. Being a buyer involves trust too. But you can use your credit card to pay with Paypal, and if something goes wrong, initiate a chargeback with AMEX or VISA, and you will likely be protected. So I think buyers are on the safer side of the transaction. But who would want to buy a $7,500 camera sight unseen? Why not go to the seller, test, shoot some footage, feel good about the whole thing?
And yes, Matt, I agree with you 100%.
Cheers,
Harry

Harry, to be clear, my opinion about eBay and PayPal is the same. Terrible service, but what can we do. No competition. But listen to this story. My Friends good Friend from Czech Republic sold expensive lens few Years ago and recieved... very nice fake money. It is 100% genuine story. About 4500 USD. And don't think he never seen US Dollars before. They were as the original ones. He went to the bank, wanted to deposit the money and... the whole story begins. They caught this scammer of course, but it costed him so many nerves. So, that's why i think if someone want to do nice scam he will do it. No matter how.

Yes, and my vetting of a buyer would extend beyond simply meeting and grabbing the cash or check. I would ask around, see if anyone knew them, maybe walk to the bank with them to verify the cashier's check, or test the $100 bills.
I did not mean to imply that the only thing you have to do to be safe is to avoid eBay and Paypal. It is simply the first thing you might consider.
Yes, anyone can get scammed. But if a scammer senses that you are vigilant and will check him out and deal only on your terms, they will generally go away.
And the original lament that someone sent via PM was that they thought I was being unfair by making the transaction difficult. It's my intent to make the transaction better for both of us.
Cheers,
Harry

I have a couple of interested parties but nothing definite yet. Solid camera at a fair price!

I was in on that eBay thread and I showed some trepidation on there, but I ended up selling my c100 for 6k without a lick of trouble. Smooth as a transaction could be. From LA to NYC my camera travelled. Also, just bought a BMC from a user on another forum. That should be coming shortly. Have zero worry about that. The scam thing is overrated. Most people are good. On forums you can ferret out who to trust easily. On eBay, feedback is very reliable. The most annoying user is the occasional super picky / anal user. Those are trouble and I avoid the like the plague. I could show you an email exchange from a prospective buyer of my camera you would not believe. He was so passive aggressive and argumentative I finally told him do not bid on my camera under any circumstances even though he was going to bid higher than anyone else, lol.

Hey Shanon,
I have sold a bunch of small items on eBay and on this forum, and of course have accepted Paypal many times with no trouble. But for some types of purchases, it doesn't compute.
Even the arguing with passive-aggressive types via messaging is too much drama for me. I really enjoy meeting people, making sure they are happy with what I'm selling, shaking hands. If I'm buying a piece of used gear from an unknown vendor, it's even more important.
Some example of sales, large and small:
I sold one of my Red One MX cameras to a couple of fellows on this forum last year. They happened to have an office near me in SoHo. We met up, they shot some test footage, we talked at length. I had a really good feeling. I asked around about them, verified their location, etc. They came back and made an offer. The day they picked up the camera I was not even there. My AC took the check and left it on my desk for me. I have since sent them extra spare parts and they have had great things to say about the camera, and me too.
I met up with a guy on this forum who wanted to buy an leftover Red One 5.6" LCD from me. He was from out of the country, so I insisted on cash, even though it was only $400. I had him come over, plugged it into one of my Epics, showed him a small blemish, made sure he was OK with everything, shook hands, and exchanged the monitor for the money. He seemed very happy and I have not heard from him since.
In the mid-1990's I sold an Arri SR1 camera for WAY more than 20-year-old digital cameras fetch ($20,000!). I sold it to a guy in Palm Beach, FL. Since there was big money involved, I sprung for a cheap plane ticket and met up with him. we shot some film, he looked it over very carefully, we put up a few lenses that I had brought with me, did as thorough a checkout as one can do in a living room of a suburban house. He was very happy, made an offer, and I accepted. Now, this was a lot of money being exchanged in a faraway place, so I insisted that I drive him to his bank and stand there while he had a cashier's check cut for me. He called a few times afterwards to get some cinematography advice, but as far as I could tell, was very happy with the camera package.
My point is, every transaction is different, but face to face is best for me personally. Then again, I'm an old-fashioned guy! ;)
Cheers,
Harry

Just a quick bump. I think my sales thread got a little derailed here.
Camera is still for sale. Please take a look and PM with any questions or interest.
Cheers,
Harry

I've done business with Harry in the past with great results!
His gear is in wonderful condition and beautifully packed.

By buying in person, not only will you see equipment in great shape but you get to you meet one of the most upstanding guys in the business.
I would not hesitate buying from Harry one bit, he is an awesome guy!
