In one community on Facebook, I met an announcement about the sale of the complete set of lenses Sone Cinealta T2.0. Why do they all speak of them as wonderful lenses? Is it so? Who shot at 8K? Is there R3D? How different are they from Schneider Xenon FF prime? And than.

Sony CineAlta

The 2nd generation package is not a bad way to go. Great price/performance value. Specific to the Sony lenses, the CA and breathing is well controlled. The image rendition is closer to a Cooke. The 20 & 25mm had some vignetting at 6K. Flare management is within range. Decent useable focus range, missing at 16mm at the bottom. Wide open, a bit soft, but very little distortion. The blade structure gives a beautiful round bokeh. Weight is a bit heavy, so gimbal work may be challenging. PL mount only, so there is a need to rely on third party providers.

These lenses hardly exist in rental houses, probably why there isnt much dialogue about them. Thusly, little to no use on high profile work. The CineAlta was designed to be used to cover Standard 35mm motion picture aperture. The first generation of lenses were plastic housing and the PL had fit issues with certain camera. But overall Sony deserves high marks on the version 2 of this lens set.

It is a beautiful lens, sharper a bit than CP2, warm colors, works great at 8K HD, the only flaw is it's a heavy lens.. But for the price, it's awesome.
