Sorry, I posted this in the wrong section… maybe I'll have more luck here :

Hi All,

I just got a Red Rocket inside a Sonnet external case for my Mac Book Pro.
It works perfectly via thunderbolt from the computer to the sonnet case.

I have an extra screen Eizo CG223W that was plugged to my computer via this mini display port / thunderbolt to display port into my screen. It works perfect.

Since I have my sonnet case which is plugged in this thunderbolt port through my MBP, I'm trying to go from the sonnet case to the Eizo with this same logic so sonnet case thunderbolt (the second port) into my Eizo Display port.
It's working well for approx 10mn, then I have some weird things happening such as parasites in the first place then cuts on/off and then black screen.

Does this happened to someone here already ?
Am I doing something wrong - I guess so but… Is there a way that this set up works ?

Merci !
Seb.

Bad thunderbolt cable?

By all rights it should work. I'm running a 30" Dell monitor at the end of a 10 meter optical Thunderbolt cable going through my Sonnet PCIe Expander and then connecting the Apple mini DisplayPort to DVI-DL adapter to the back of the Sonnet and DVI cable to the Dell monitor. It just works and it works perfectly.

I would start by swapping/ checking cables. The DisplayPort signal is sent down the secondary channel of the cable, so if something is messed up there, then it could cause an issue like this.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the help.

I have tried the mini display port to display port cable directly from the MBP to the screen, and it works fine.
Do you think I would need a better cable from the sonnet to the screen ?

On the other hand, my Thunderbolt Cable from the MBP to the Sonnet is a Apple brand new one. I doubt it would mess it up since my RR works perfect.

What do you mean by "The DisplayPort signal is sent down the secondary channel of the cable" ?
