  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Something New...

Audio

Audio

The internal audio as enabled is 4 independent channels at 48KHz 24 bit sampling. Recorded as uncompressed data.

RED audio enabled! sweet music to my ears! "loud enough" indeed!

thanks, RED!

Great news, Jarred! I loved the "Is that loud enough?" quote right at the end!

And, bear in mind I know nothing about motorcycles, but really, how on earth does the rear wheel work? There's no hub?!

Stewart, it was nice to get to visit with you at the Mike Curtis presentation on Tuesday. Love that East Texas accent. ;)

So, how does sound recording affect the record times on the 8gig cards?

Yeah, this would be great information! How much time can we expect with 1, 2, 3 or 4 channels running along with 4k at 24 or 23.98?

Your looking at about 10% overhead for audio.

Has anyone addressed the fact that the sound is only out of the left channel? Is there any stereo?

Location audio is normally recorded as discrete mono channels. There is no stereo or 5.1 etc. That happens in post. Mind you it would have been simple to send it to stereo during the quicktime output.

Sound Overhead

4 ch audio data rate is ~0.6 MB/sec (4 x 48,000 Hz x 24 bits = 4,608,000 bits)

REDCODE RAW at 24 fps 2K at 2:1 is about 7 MB/sec, 4K 2:1 is about 28MB/sec.

The rear wheel IS the hub.

Congrats on the audio! Can't wait to play with it!
