Well done guys...so is pulling focus that hard cause all this stuff looks sharp and I am pretty sure both of you were doing it yourself. Keep it coming!

Haha, first your "My Turn" sounds like River From serenity... and second

amazing, car commercials will be the new thing with this cam

This is Awesome!! The best footage I have seen so far. So when are you guys going to shot a short or a feature? I like that it has the motion motion of film, and the look unlike anything else.

Awesome work. I can't wait to see that at 4k Jarred - I think I'll puke with motion sickness.

Beautiful shots. Hey, if I move to the west coast can I come out and play with you guys?

Excellent stuff from both Jim and Jarred!

I apologize in advance, but, I must now be "that guy."

Wow, what a beautiful shot and what a beautiful location. I'd give a Cohiba Sublime (real one) to be able to see that loaction when I come to LA to pick up my RED!

Work Flo

Work Flo

Pardon my inexperience but I have been reading this chat board for two days and I am still confused. Just ordered the Red Camera. Question is" what is the work flo and what else do I need in oder to deliver a project after shooting. How do I get it into FCP?? What media do I use to deliver??

I have FCP studio 2 , on a MAC PRo 3.0, with 2 TB raid.

Currently we are a SP and miniDV studio editing in FCP and Newtek VT.

Thanks

John

You need a firewire or USB port to plug in a compact flash card reader. Or you need a USB or firewire port to plug in the reddrive (think firestore).

Once on your HDD. Load into REDCine and convert to DV, HDV, ProRes or uncompressed DPX/Tif. Edit as normal. Or you can load the REDCode files straight into FCP without any transcoding. Edit as normal. And render, output to tape/export EDL or online clips.

So,I need to buy a flash card reader. Any suggestions or are they all the same?? I have the firewire and USB ports. What about DVD?? Should I think about a Blue Ray Burner??

Thanks

John

The optimum work flow for Red is still a "work in progress" right now, you will see ongoing discussions about it on this forum right now. The good news is, by the time you get your camera (maybe mid-2008 ?) it should be well understood and it looks like there will be training sessions and instruction available.

As far as delivery media, I think it is simply whatever the customer requests. Is there a standard yet for better-than-HD quality (well, other than film) ? If they need the full image quality Red is capable of, I believe that data files on a hard drive, digital streaming tape etc. is the only way.

The chick in slo-mo looked bad. Reminded me of dv. I've seen that in 2k and looked good but for some reason looked like crap in the sequence.

It was shot at 23.976 so he used frame blending to slow it down.

Personally, I can't wait until we start seeing some footage shot at >30fps. Slow-mo RED footage has gotta be killer...
