What are the differences between Red Alert and Red Cine when Cine seems to be far superior, also what is the primary use of Red Rushes?

Also, in Final cut pro you can edit with the proxies, right? And you can also edit with the R3D file itself although when I try to imoprt that in it takes forever.
Which is the best way to edit?
And if I perform Raw corrections in Red Cine how I edit with the altered files in FCS?

Thanks.

Hey is this David E. from "when All Else Fails?" If it is let me know what you are up to ?

I think the best workflow is to to make low res ( 1280x720 perhaps ) files in red rushes, Edit using FCP or whatever, and then use a Scratch system to re-conform the R3'ds to final uncompressed DPX or Qt's

If You want to work around buying or using a facility with Scratch you can trick Redcine into taking in an EDL using Crimson or Monkey Extract.
