  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Some night red and day exterior clips

where's the clips? can't find them

No I'm good to go on quicktime. Clicking on links. First one shows the first frame but does not continue to download. The clips I'm seeing do not look that big size wise either. 640 x something. The night exterior shots have a quicktime logo with question mark in it.

The question mark suggests you may not have the right quicktime components. They are largeish (100mb +) quicktimes and .mac is slow. It just took a full 60 seconds before the progress bar started to move on this clip here.

patience is a virtue

The day ones are working. Sorry. They displayed like 320 x 240 and are 1080 . Confused me for a sec.

Still no dice on the night stuff. I'm fairly savy in the working of quicktime videos and etc. Anyone else getting those to play?

What camera number and firmware did you use?

The day ones are working. Sorry. You just used a unusually large bit rate for a small size. Confused me for a sec.

It was shot with software 1.4.6. Not sure what the serial number was.

Yes, they are working and like i told you before they are no small sized clips. They play small only on the webpage.

If you have a browser like Opera where you can magnify the page do it and you will see the Quicktime in all it's glory. Or, like i said you can save them to your computer and play them from there full size.

If you wait for it to download on the page, you can then choose to download the entire clip and store it locally on your drive. it should open then as a 1920x1080 clip.

I know how saving linked quicktimes works. Hmm weird.

Thanks Jon. What firmware? Was the camera recently recieved? The only reason I asked is some new improved bodies went out with serial numbers above 100. Just want to know what I'm looking at. Nice footage.

I can't tell you because of some issues with the original body that I had. It stopped working and it was swapped for a backup body that had been supplied by red in mid December.

Oh, and as i mentioned above, it was firmware 1.4.6...i think....

I'm currently running safari and got it to save and playback real smooth. John, I read that the handles were a pain in the ass for you. How would you setup the camera in the future?

BTW the night scenes are offline.

John, your footage deserves to be seen by as many redusers as possible. Maybe you should post here some direct links to the Quictimes so people who can't view them in the browser can download them.

I just didn't bother using them. I had the two bottom rails only and got rid of them. Just like a regular film or HD camera. Which is fine. I guess it's nice to have the option. The camera is about as fast to setup and pull down as a 35mm camera so that all sat well. I was shooting by myself and without an assistant.

One other thing that bugged me was the balance of the camera. It's very very front heavy with the cooke on, and i really struggled to balance the camera on the head. I ended up using a double v-Lock battery adaptor with two batteries loaded hanging off the back to make it balance.
