I can't help it. Someone posts an .r3d and I'm like "MUST. GRADE." My sample footage folder is about 100 GB these days.

Aaron,

You ain't the only one! I'm constantly deleting sample .r3d and pic folders.

Here's a different approach.

Here's The Original .Tiff out of Redcine-X Pro, With a "Contrast-None" "Very Soft" Highlight Roll-Off, iso 800 also with a "3287" Kelvin and "7.291" Tint. I Used his white shirt sleeve as a "Pick WB" point, which gave me the "Kelvin" and "Tint" settings mentioned earlier.

Here's the Lut I made in 3DLut Creator Pro To transform the Image above into the image below. It's Meant to be used with a "RedwidegamutRGB" and "Log3G10" .r3d file

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5cwpj6kt48e86dt/Hand new approach 4.cube?dl=0

I used a 33x33x33 cube Lut I made out of Redcine-X , which had an "Output Tone Map" = "None" and "Highlight Roll-Off"= "Very Soft" and "Rec 709" "Color Space" and "BT1886" "Gamma Curve".

I Then performed a grade in 3DLut Creator Pro of the .Tiff file out of Redcine-X Pro with the settings listed above. I then Combined the 33 cube sized IPP2 transform Lut and the 33 cube sized grading Lut from 3DLut Creator Pro with a "HALD' 64x64x64.PNG file inside of 3DLut Creator Pro as a "Final" new .cube file.

Use either the "Hald5" which is a 25 cube sized file or the "Hald8" which is 64 cube sized file. The "Hald16" is a 256 cube sized file which will result in Luts approximately 275mb in file size.

Thanks for the extra Monstro pic Tobi.

It's good having high quality R3D's to check out what the different sensors can do, and as the basis for playing around with different looks.

Edit - And here's a link to the subliminal colour reference I'd seen the day before (or was it just a coincidence?) https://imageshack.com/a/img922/8051/wGqp3k.jpg

Tobi,
you can take a shot, with the cap on the pl mount or canon mount.
A Black frame. And share r3d?

thanks

Tobi,

Thanks!

The Linked file appears to be the same "hand on counter" .r3d from earlier.

Looking forward to your comparison Monstro / Gemini ..... I think (hope) Gemini would be the perfect B-Cam to Monstro ..... or even better ... !!!???
But honestly the large Vista Vision sensor is just a dream....

If you need anything else, let me know, or I just come down to beautiful italy for some tests ;-)
